A normal sized water bottle WILL however fit inside of the mini backpack. This pack is awesome for toting around the essentials, I would still highly recommend getting it. I have the regular sized Kanken too, and the side pockets on that don’t even fit a water bottle (I put my mini umbrella in those pockets).
