How do you earn BA Tier Points?
You collect Tier Points when you fly. The amount you earn depends on your ticket type and fare class. The more Tier Points you collect, the more benefits you’ll receive as you move through the tiers. Unlike Avios, Tier Points can’t be spent on rewards and they reset back to zero every year.

You will lose bronze if you do not fly enough qualifying flights to gain the tier points needed to achieve bronze each year – you get a soft landing to bronze from silver if you don’t re-qualify for silver but otherwise you don’t retain bronze forever.
Can you earn Avios on Qantas?
It is possible to earn Avios and BA tier points on Qantas instead of Points, their reward currency. This is because they both belong to the oneworld alliance. On Qantas, you will earn Avios at a maximum of 150% of miles flown if you fly first class.

How long do you keep BA Silver status?
It is worth noting that your Silver card typically expires 7-8 weeks after your membership year end – giving you another month or two of benefits. Once that time is up, however, and you have not fulfilled the maintenance requirements, you will demoted.
