How do you install APR front splitter?
Installation Procedure:
- Line up both edges of bumper and splitter, and temporarily clamp the assembly together on both sides.
- Use an 8mm (1/4”) drill bit to drill mounting holes through the Splitter and bumper.
- Install the Splitter support rods.
- Install additional support brackets as needed.
What is an APR splitter?
To combat the effects of front end lift, APR Front Wind Splitters are utilized to give extra traction and control in the front of a car. With low pressure below the car, the effect of lift is reduced and a driver can gain from the extra traction and control.
Where do splitter rods go?
Splitters look like a flat scoop that extends out from the bottom of the front of the car. Splitters sometimes have support rods that are attached between the splitter and the bumper, which keep the splitter parallel to the ground since the downforce on these can be extreme.
At what speed does a front splitter work?
The splitter seals off the entire area all the way from the front of the vehicle and stops just short of the front wheels. This creates a decent low-pressure area under the car to assist downforce, but only at speeds above around 120 kmh.
What does a front lip splitter do?
A car splitter forces the high pressure air upwards, where it builds up around the bumper and migrates up and over the car. The high speed, low pressure air passes underneath the car. Combined, this reduces vehicle lift and results in a net positive downforce. This gives the car more traction as it hugs the ground.
What is the point of splitter rods?
Splitters contribute to the car’s performance by “splitting” the air to reduce lift and increase traction. When a car reaches high speeds, air pressure builds up at the front of the car. The air forced under the car is at a relatively high pressure.
What is a lip splitter?
A car splitter is a rigid extension that’s added to the bottom of the front bumper. It looks like a flat scoop that extends out in front. Splitters sometimes have support rods that are attached between the splitter and the bumper. They reinforce the splitter and keep it parallel to the ground at speed.
