How is SurTec 650 applied?
SurTec 650 chromitAL® can be used in immersion, spray and wipe application. Dilute SurTec 650 chromitAL® with DI-water before use. Between each step, the surface has to be rinsed. The rinsing methods have to be adapted to the plating line.
What is SurTec coating?
SurTec 650 is a trivalent chromium compound for the surface treatment of aluminium, achieved through a dipping process. The treatment is electrically conductive and an excellent pretreatment prior to powder coating. The process complies with the corrosion requirements of MIL-DTL-81706-B and F-MIL5541.
Is SurTec 650 RoHS compliant?
SurTec 650 chromitAL® is a trivalent process which is RoHS and WEEE compliant. It is widely used in the electronics industry due to low surface resistance, and in the aerospace industry due to high corrosion protection on unlacquered surfaces.
What is alodine coating?
Also known as chem film or chemfilm, Alodine® is a chromate conversion coating that protects aluminum and other metals from corrosion. In chemical conversion coatings, the metal undergoes a chemical reaction at the surface. This chemical reaction transforms the metal surface into a protective layer.
What Colour is SurTec 650?
colourless
SurTec 650 is a colourless finish that leaves parts with a silver appearance SurTec 650V is a coloured finish that leaves parts with an iridescent slightly blue colour to create a visible coating.
What is Alocrom?
Alocrom (or Alodine in the US) is a Chromate conversion coating that is applied to aluminium alloys, which provides a level of corrosion protection. Alocrom is also good for paint adhesion and is electrically conductive.
What treatment can be used on aluminum to prepare it for alodine?
Alodine 600 is a powdered chemical used in an aqueous solution to produce on aluminium or aluminium alloys a protective coating which ranges in colour from light, iridescent golden to tan. The coating produced provides excellent protection for unpainted aluminium and bonds paint well.
What color is alodine?
Alodine is a slightly cheaper process than anodizing, though it is more prone to scratches, wear, and cosmetic damage. The most common color of the coating is an iridescent greenish-gold, and thus it may also be used for cosmetic purposes.
What is the difference between alodine and Alocrom?
Alocrom 1200 is marketed under the name Alodine 1200 outside of the UK and drawings calling for Alodine 1200 can be coated with Alocrom 1200 and vice versa. For example, for maximum electrical conductivity, the coating is colourless to very light yellow, whereas for maximum corrosion protection it is a deeper yellow.
