Is there a brick stain?
Unlike paint, which remains on the surface, brick stain is a mineral product that soaks into the brick and becomes a part of the brick. It can never chip, bubble, or pull away from the brick. Brick stain works best when applied to unsealed, clean, fully porous brick. It cannot be applied to painted brick.
Is there a dye for bricks?
Brick stain is available as an easy to use brick tinting kit. Our brick stain dyes the surface, rather than coating it with a heavy film like most masonry paints. Our brick tinting products are water based, colourfast and will not alter the texture or the physical properties of your masonry.
What kind of stain do you use on brick?
There are two primary types of brick stain from which to choose:
- Water-based brick stain, which is what we recommend for most projects. These stains are easy to apply, prevent water build-up, and allow for breathability of the brick.
- Stains premixed with sealant.
Can you match old brick?
The best way to find the right kind of matching brick is to track down the original manufacturer of your old brick. Unfortunately, this might be harder than it seems. If you can’t find the original brick, look for something that’s the same size and the same texture as your original brick.
Can you stain red brick a lighter color?
You can do it all with our brick stain. If you’re worried that your dark red or brown brick will peek through a lighter colored stain, you don’t have to be! The beauty of our brick stain is that it literally dyes the masonry.

Just because your fireplace came with an old-fashioned red-brick facade doesn’t mean you need to keep it that way. If the cozy traditionalism of bare brick doesn’t suit your aesthetic, you can transform the look of the whole wall by painting the brick white.
