The Flying V weights around 8 pounds (3.6 kg). Although the body isn’t too large, it is a touch thicker than the SG, at just over 1.5 inches.

generally beginners don’t pick up a top of the line 1500 dollar guitar. V’s are also kind of a pain to play and probably wouldn’t be the best to learn on.
