How much does it cost to adopt a Potcake?
Our adoption fees: Adult Potcake dogs with microchips: $350. Potcake dogs 5 years of age and older: $250. Potcake puppies that have been spayed/neutered: $350. Potcake puppies too young to be spayed/neutered: $275, plus a $75 deposit refunded with proof of spay/neuter.
How do I adopt a Potcake puppy?
As dogs become available for adoption, they are posted on Potcake Places’ Facebook page. Those interested in adopting are asked to fill out an adoption form that allows the charity to complete background checks and vet all potential new owners.
How big do Potcakes get?
Potcakes can range between 40lb and 75lb (medium – smaller than labs), but most grow to be approximately 45-55 lbs, the size of their paws as a puppy gives you a good idea as to how large they will grow. We have successfully adopted out potcakes throughout North America and other parts of the world.
How much do Potcakes shed?
Potcake dogs of the Bahamas have short fur with little to no undercoat. They have smooth coats that need little grooming other than the occasional brush. Potcakes are not hypoallergenic and will shed.

Potcakes will return your love and affection many times over. They are loving, loyal dogs with intelligence as well as street smarts. Very adaptable, this dog will fit into your home after a short adjustment period. These dogs are easily housetrained and respond well to positive reinforcement obedience training.

How smart are Potcakes?
According to Jane Parker-Rauw, potcake dogs are intelligent, loyal, calm, and resilient. Unlike many dog breeds, potcakes are able to eat many foods that would be upsetting to most dogs. Their stomachs are incredibly hardy. However, they tend to wander if not properly confined or supervised.

These dogs are easily housetrained and respond well to positive reinforcement obedience training. Despite their street origin, Potcakes seem to have an immediate, intuitive bond with their owners and an almost empathetic quality. They are rarely shy and prefer to be around people as much as possible.
