What is default-information originate?
As you probably already know, default-information originate tells the router to inject any default route that has been configured on the router into the OSPF. The OSPF router does not, by default, generate a default route into the OSPF domain.
What is default originate in BGP?
Default-Originate Command. The default-originate command is configured on a per BGP neighbor basis. This command artificially generates and advertises a default route only to the specific BGP peer. The default route does not need to exist in the Routing Table and it is not created in the BGP RIB.
What is OSPF default-information?
In OSPF, the “default-information originate” command will not advertise to any other routers without a default route in the routing table. When added the “always” keyword , it tells the router to advertise a default route to other routers even if you don’t have a default route in the routing table.
On which router is the command default-information originate should be used?
Instead, OSPF requires the default-information originate router subcommand, which essentially tells OSPF to redistribute any default routes found in the routing table, either static routes or routes from another routing protocol.
What is the difference between ABR and Asbr?
ABR is a router used to establish a connection between backbone area and other OSPF areas. ASBR is a router that is connected to other OSPF areas, as well as other routing protocols such as IGRP, EIGRP, IS-IS, RIP, BGP, Static.
What is BGP local preference?
The BGP local preference attribute is the second BGP attribute and is used to choose the exit path for an autonomous system. The local preference has to be set inbound on routes being received to influence the outbound routing behaviour. A higher local preference is preferred and the default is 100.
How can a default route be generated?
Default routes can also be generated by dynamic routing protocols, such as OSPF and IS-IS. Default routes are used only when no matching routing entry is available for packet forwarding in the routing table. A default route in the routing table is the route to the network 0.0.
What are the OSPF area types?
There are five types of OSPF areas: Backbone area (area 0), Standard area, Stub area, Totally stubby area, and No so stubby area (NSSA).
What is OSPF default-info originate metric Type 1?

When to use the default information originate command?
Use the default-information originate always route-map map-name form of the command when you do not want the dependency on the default network in the routing table. If you use the ip prefix-list command with the default-information originate command to generate default routes, specify only IP adress matching.
